ROBERT MARCIEL Obituary

ROBERT L. MARCIEL "Bob", 88, of Honolulu, passed away at home on December 19, 2024 surrounded by his family and caregivers. Bob graduated from St. Louis High School in 1955, married his high school sweetheart in 1956, and graduated from San Jose State in 1959 where he played collegiate football. His love for the game extended into coaching high school football at St. Louis and Punahou; inspiring countless young men. Bob retired after 39 years at the Honolulu Advertiser in Circulation and Sales Management. He was committed to making a difference in the lives of others, both through the development of newspaper educational programs benefiting children and serving on the Board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for 12 years. Survived by his wife Marlene of 68 years; two daughters Lisa Izuta (Frank) and Tori Marciel; three grandchildren Sean Rodrigues (Brittany), Robert Izuta (Erica) and Annalise Izuta; three great- grandchildren; and sister Dorothy Allinson. Preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Minnie; brother Ronald. Bob donated his body to the University of Hawaii Willed Body Program. Private service to be held.
