Ronald Goo Obituary

RONALD GUM TONG GOO Ronald Gum Tong Goo, age 93, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully, at home, on December 28, 2025. Born in Kalihi and raised on School Street, he was the son of Tin Yau and Beatrice Goo. Ronald graduated from St. Louis High with the class of 1950, and after serving in the Navy during the Korean War, he earned a Bachelor of Economics Degree from the University of Hawaii. After a career as a General Agent with American Factors Insurance, Ron retired and enjoyed worldwide travel that was already of keen interest to him when he served in the Navy Reserve as a teen and decades later as an insurance agent. During the Korean War, Ron served on a ship operating in the War Zone that required him to sail into ports involved in the conflict, however, he seldom spoke of his military experience, and was surprised when he discovered that the Department of Veterans Affairs has maintained a detailed record of his service during that long ago war. Ron is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dixie Ann Haliimaile Chu Goo. He was a loving father to his three children, Ronda Kamalani, Rosie Kahoakakulani, and Russell Kihapiilani (Jodi). He also leaves behind four grandchildren Kalai Santos, Kulani Santos, Kaihehau Goo and Kamalani Goo. Ronald was blessed with a life of excitement, friendships, travel and adventure; he enjoyed the company of many family, friends and associates. We thank his loving caregivers for the wonderful care he received during his final days. A private celebration of Ronald's life was held as he had requested. We invite you to please celebrate Ronald in your own ways. We know that he will be with us all in spirit. In Ronald's memory, you may wish to consider a donation to St Louis School-3142 Waialae Ave., Honolulu, HI 96822. Mahalo for years of friendship and your understanding during this difficult time.
