Rose Young Obituary

ROSE KAM OI YOUNG Rose Kam Oi Young passed away peacefully on September 7th at the age of 97. She was born in Honolulu on July 17, 1927, to Sing Kun Wong and Mary Lock Chun. Rose lived a life full of love and caring while also often showing a whimsical and humorous side. She graduated from Farrington High School class of 1945 and worked at Hawaiian Airlines for several years and later Sears & Roebuck from where she retired after 40 years. In 1947, she met a handsome young man named Daniel Young who gave her an apple during her lunch break. That started a lifetime romance that lasted for over 77 years. Rose and Daniel were married on December 12, 1948, and recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. They enjoyed their travels to the Orient, all across the mainland and cruised the Caribbean. She is survived by her husband, Daniel, daughter Luena Young Lum (Donald), sons Leslie and Lowen (Cheryl), grand-children Kevin, Nicole Yoshioka (Todd), Shane (Lisa), Dani, and great-grandchildren Kira, Emma and Bodhi. Services will be held on Saturday, October 26th at the Borthwick Mortuary Makai Chapel. Visitation at 10:00 am; services at 11:00 am. Burial will be at 1:00 pm at the Manoa Chinese Cemetery.
