ROSITA GARCIA Obituary

ROSITA ROSE GARCIA Rosita "Rose" Garcia, 85, of Mililani, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving children. Rose is survived by her son Ernie; daughters Charlene Au (Vincent) and Jessica Cortez (George); daughter-in-law, Michele Garcia (John); grandchildren: Jared (Rachel), Jenna (Jake), Kylie, Seth (Sarah), Kai, Jaime, Madison; great grandchildren: Treyton, Amelia, Trevyn, Taedyn, and the pending arrival of another great grandson. She is also survived by her sister Erlinda Palalay. Rosita is predeceased by her husband, Ernesto (2024), and her youngest son, John (2001). Rose was born on June 23, 1940, in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. She is the second of four children to the late Julio and Soledad Asuncion. Rose graduated high school from Cabugao Institute; then studied Nursing at the University of Santo Tomas. After emigrating to Hawaii in 1962, she attended the University of Hawaii. In 1963, Rose wed her high school sweetheart & late husband, Ernesto. Her education was put on hold after they began their family, but Rose never lost her passion for learning. She would often enroll in business classes at the community college while raising their four children. Rose went on to have a career in accounting. She retired from Watamull's after 25 years of service. Her favorite pastime was the love of reading! She enjoyed a genre of novels ranging from romance to mystery and suspense. She was an excellent cook that lovingly prepared meals for her family who would often request their favorite dishes. Rose was a person of deep faith who actively participated in different ministries at St. John Apostle & Evangelist Church. She valued God and family which she instilled in her children. Her legacy as an unwavering supportive and caring wife, Mom, Mama, and "GG" will endure. Rose was known for her quiet & sweet personality. She had a kind and generous heart; always sharing her blessings with others. Family and friends will forever cherish their memories of her. She will live on in our hearts and will be dearly missed. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at St. John Apostle & Evangelist Church, Mililani. Visitation at 9:30 a.m. Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Mililani Memorial Park.
