Soo Young Obituary

SOO CHUN YOUNG Beloved mother, grandmother, and wife passed away on March 9, 2026. She was born to Lum Gun Cheong and Lee Sze in Canton, China on September 19, 1929. In 1950, she married Wing Kam Young and they immigrated to Hawaii in 1962. Soo Chun was a hard worker who persevered through adversity to build a life for her family in the United States. She often worked multiple jobs at a time and spent many years as a chef in Chinese restaurants, including Tin Yin, Hon Kung, Lin Heong, and Wong's Golden Wok. Despite the challenges, she remained kind and generous, always ready to lend a helping hand to others. Her love and affection were expressed through her talented cooking skills. She was renowned for her delicious dishes, especially her noodles and jin dui, which everyone loved. Visiting her home was always a special occasion, where family and friends were welcomed with warmth, kindness, and delicious food. Soo Chun was preceded in death by daughter Yuet Mui, husband Wing Kam, and son Kai Ming. She is survived by her children Henry (Betty), Peter (Alicia), and Lena Young; and grandchildren, Nicholas, Kendra, Ryan, Lauren, Justin, and Christina Young. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones. A memorial service will be held at Nu'uanu Memorial Park and Mortuary at 9:30am on Friday, March 27th.
