Thomas Mitsunaga Obituary

THOMAS TAMO MITSUNAGA Thomas "Tamo" Mitsunaga, 102, of Waimea, Kauai, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024 in his home. He was born in Haiku Maui, and lived most of his life on Lana'i. He was a 43 year employee of Dole Lana'i and served his community and State in many ways as Maui Police Commission, Past District Governor District 50 Lions Club and State Hawaii Health Systems Corporation Board, State Commission on Children and Youth, Maui County Planning Commission Chair, Lana'i Hospital Board of Trustees President, and Lana'i Community Association President. He was instrumental in getting the current community school campus built. He is predeceased by his parents Shiro and Tetsu, wife Sylvia, son Peter, brother Masami, sister Toshiko Matsuura. Survived by son John (Renee) Mitsunaga of Rio Rancho, NM, daughter Teresa (Allen) Chan, of Waimea, Kauai, four grandchildren Thomas, Corey, Rey, and Benjamin, two great- grandchildren; brother Toshio Mitsunaga of Escondido, CA. Services: 10:00 am on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel, Lawai, Kauai.
