William Salvador Obituary

WILLIAM BILL SALVADOR SR. William "Bill" Salvador Sr., 85 years old, of Hilo Hawaii. passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025 in his home in Hilo Hawaii.He graduated from Kaimuki High School in 1958 and immediately joined the Navy as cook apprentice. He served for 2 years and then began a successful career as a cook, Sous Chef, Executive Chef at Naniloa Surf Hotel, and Restaurant Owner. Bill won numerous Culinary Awards and was invited to compete in the 1976 International Culinary Olympics in Frankfurt, Germany. He was the Captain for the Hawaii Team that won 8 Gold Medals, 2 Grand Awards, and the Judge's Choice Plaque. In 1977 Executive Chef Bill Salvador was nominated into the American Academy of Chefs, a prestigious award to TOP Chefs in the United States. William's Celebration of Life will be on February 15, 2026 Sunday at Dodo Mortuary. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Prayer services at 10 a.m., Continue Visitation at 10:15 a.m.; Military Honors at 10:45 a.m.; Program at 10:50 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. The family request Aloha attire. William loved fishing and is now fishing in Heaven. He is survived by Patty Sue Salvador; brothers, Alfredo (Patricia) Salvador Jr., Warren (Malia) Salvador, Rudolph Salvador and Rayne Salvador; sisters, Eleanor Hottendorf; Gwendolyn "Honey" Brogan; children, Tamra Salvador, Dr. Scarlet (John) Lauro and William Salvador Jr.; Seven grandchildren, 11 Great-Grandchildren, two Great, Great-Grandchildren.
