ALEXANDER KALAHIKIOLA KALOI Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many passed away on June 4, 2023 from a heart attack. He loved his hometown of Wahiawa where he married his high school sweetheart Jan and lived there his entire life. He graduated from Leilehua High School in 1973 where he excelled in various sports, especially football. He went on to play at the University of Hawaii and became their starting quarterback for 3 years. He then became a dentist and opened the Waianae Family Dental Office. He practiced there for 38 years with his dedicated, devoted, and loving staff who he considered part of our family. He loved working in the Waianae community and considered it his second home. His hobbies included fishing, golfing, and playing poker, where he met many of his closest friends. He also loved coaching his 3 daughters in tennis from childhood to their collegiate years. More recently, he could be spotted at various fields and courts across the island... watching and coaching his grandchildren in football, tennis, baseball, and soccer. He was the heart of his family, which included his wife (Jan), 3 daughters Janalle Kaloi-Chen (Erich), Kimi Kaloi (Rachel), Heidi Kaloi-McCoy (Jeffrey Brian), 8 grandchildren (Aleki, Kainalu, Kumakani, Cedric, Nahi'ena, Kia'i, Aria, and Paliuli), his brother Oliver Kaloi (Gini), his sister-in-law's Amy Olayon (Greg), Marnie Young, and Beverly Lau, and many nieces and nephews. In his loving memory, services will held at Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary on Sunday August 6, 2023 (Visitation from 4-6 pm and service from 6-8 pm). In lieu of gifts, the family asks that any contributions be sent to their fund at Hawaii Community Foundation in memory of him. Checks should be payable to "Hawai'i Community Foundation" with a note "Alexander Kaloi Ohana Charitable Fund" in the memo section or cover letter, and mail to Hawai'i Community Foundation, 827 Fort Street Mall, Honolulu, HI 96813-4317.
