Claude Nagaishi Obituary

CLAUDE TSUNENORI NAGAISHI Claude went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2023. Claude was born on December 20, 1928 in Paauhau on the Big Island of Hawaii. He graduated from Mid-Pacific Institute and went on to earn his teaching degree from Gustavus Adolphus College, a small Lutheran college in Saint Peter, Minnesota in 1955. Claude also served in the U.S. Army from 1951 - 1953. Claude was employed by the Department of Education for more than 31 years at Pahala High and Elementary, Kailua Elementary, Alvah Scott Elementary, Moanalua Elementary, and Hokulani Elementary, from which he retired in 1986. Claude was a long-standing member of Harris United Methodist Church and will be remembered as a selfless and generous person, who was a constant source of guidance and support. Claude always saw the best in everyone. In his spare time and into his retirement years, he enjoyed ballroom dancing, and had a passion for fitness, running the Honolulu Marathon, earning a black belt in Aikido, and playing tennis. Claude is preceded in death by Maisie, his beloved wife of 64 years. He is survived by children, Rhondi Santos (Saul) and Raude Nagaishi (Dana); and grandchildren, Jordon, Tiana, Nicholas, and Noelle; and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 30, 2023 at Harris United Methodist Church; visitation at 10:00 a.m. and funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements Provided By: Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary LLC

Mr. Nagaishi was my 5th grade teacher (1963-64). I thought he was great. RIP sir.
I´ve also tried to find Mrs. Yoshino (1961-62) with no success
