Maisie Nagaishi Obituary

MAISIE KINUE NAGAISHI Maisie was called to her Eternal Home on December 15, 2022. Maisie was born on August 11, 1933 in Kohala on the Big Island of Hawaii. She graduated from Lanai High and Elementary School, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Education degree and Master of Library Science degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Maisie was employed by the Department of Education for more than 29 years, in which she diligently served as the school librarian at Pahala High and Elementary, Waimanalo Elementary and Intermediate, Niu Valley Intermediate, Dole Intermediate, McKinley High, and Kuhio Elementary, from which she retired in 1989. Maisie was a devoted member of Harris United Methodist Church, and gave generously of her time to various church committees. Maisie also had a passion for fitness, exploring new neighborhoods, and trying new restaurants. Maisie is survived by Claude, her husband of 63 years; children, Rhondi Santos (Saul) and Raude Nagaishi (Dana); sister, Shirley Smith; grandchildren, Jordon, Tiana, Nicholas, and Noelle; and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 8, 2023 at Harris United Methodist Church; visitation at 10:00 a.m. and funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements Provided By: Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary LLC
