DANIEL GARCIA Obituary
DANIEL QUESADA GARCIA Daniel "Danny" Garcia passed away peacefully on Monday, July 10, 2023. He was 93 years old and lived in Mililani Mauka on Oahu. Danny was born on February 6, 1930, on Peterson Lane in Palama, Honolulu. He was the youngest of Dolore and Victoria Garcia's 12 children. He spent his formative years at Palama Settlement participating in sports and music. He is a 1949 graduate of Farrington High School where he excelled at football. Danny played three years at the varsity level and would often not exit the game playing running back, defensive back and special teams. Danny was an all-star selection and was recruited to play football at the University of Hawai'i. Instead of college football, he chose to provide for his young and growing family. While playing for several years with the original Barefoot Football League, he began his 40-year career with the City and County of Honolulu. Danny originally started on the "road crew" patching potholes and installing street signs until he moved to the refuse department where he was eventually promoted to Superintendent of the windward section (Waimanalo to La'ie). Danny really enjoyed sports. Whether coaching Pop Warner Football or Little League Baseball, umpiring softball games, golfing on all the islands, attending UH football games for 22 years, running in nearly 30 Great Aloha Runs and finishing one Honolulu Marathon at age 59, or having ESPN on all the time, sports was his life. Danny was also a fond traveler having been to nearly every state in America, nearly every continent and sailing on close to 20 cruises. He enjoyed experiencing different cultures, different food, and different people. Danny is survived by his daughters Claudia (Mike) Simpson and Cindy Alinikoff; son Danny (Moani) Garcia; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; stepchildren Anna (Juan) Vega, Roy (Kelly) Anaya; nine step grandchildren and 11 step great-grandchildren. Danny was predeceased by his wife Anita; daughters Rocky and Lynette Garcia and stepson Lando Anaya. His services are scheduled for September 20, 2023, at Mililani Mortuary, Makai Chapel.
