FRED TERUTOSHI NAGASAWA Fred Terutoshi Nagasawa, 102 passed away surrounded by family in Waipahu on July 13th, 2025, only miles from where he was born on January 18th, 1923, the second of nine children. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 70 years Agnes Ishii Nagasawa and his parents Shukichi and Fujie Nagasawa, his brothers Richard, Jon, John and Gerald, and sisters Jeanne, Carol and Pauline. He was survived by his brother Norman (Minnesota) at his time of death, however Norman being the last remaining sibling passed two days after Fred. Fred attended Waipahu High School and enjoyed playing for the AJA (Americans of Japanese Ancestry) baseball league. He worked at The Hawaii Hochi Newspaper before entering the US Army in 1944 during World War II. He was part of the highly decorated all Japanese American 442nd Regimental Combat Team. The 442nd fought with distinction in Europe, particularly in Italy and France, earning numerous awards and accolades. After being honorably discharged in 1946 he started his career at Tongg Printing as a Pressman and then a Printer 1st Class. Fred along with two partners took over a defunct print shop on Sheridan Street in Honolulu to start Service Printers, Inc in 1964. He retired in 1985 enjoying many happy years spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, catching the bus to meet up with friends for coffee and walks around Pearlridge Mall. He endured during the pandemic losing his wife and surviving COVID twice and finally succumbing to a decline in health after hip surgery at age 101. Fred will be remembered fondly for his quiet nature, generous spirit, and deep love of family. He is survived by his sons Wayne (Brenda) and Craig (Sandra); grandchildren Jeffrey, Jaymie (Mark) Nishimura, Marci, Jonelle (Haruki) Fukumitsu, Harris and three great grandsons, Blake, Jack and Tyler. There will be a private memorial service for family. We appreciate your sympathy and support and welcome cards to Wayne and Craig Nagasawa.
