HARLOW URABE Obituary

HARLOW MELFRED SOREN LARSON URABE 79, passed away on June 16, 2025, in Waipahu, HI. Born on October 15, 1945, Harlow was widely known and respected for his vibrant and selfless personality, deeply rooted in his faith. Harlow attended Dole Intermediate and Farrington High School before advancing to the University of Hawaii. His early years were marked by his athletic prowess, earning him the nickname "Maroon Flash" for his exceptional track abilities at both Farrington High and the University of Hawaii. Following his passion for service and community, Harlow had a distinguished career. He was a retired Union Agent for the Hawaii Government Employees Association (HGEA) and had previously worked at Pan American Airlines, Pagoda Hotel, and Aloha Soda Works. His commitment to labor and community service was profound and left a lasting impact. Harlow was a man of many interests, including frequent trips to Las Vegas with friends, collecting 50's and 60's nostalgia and memorabilia, and organizing school reunions. He was also a passionate car enthusiast, with a particular fondness for Ford Mustangs. Harlow Urabe will be remembered as a beacon of kindness and dedication, deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Harlow is survived by his son, Ryan Urabe, and daughter-in-law, Christine; daughter, Kristen Kashima, and son-in-law, Terrence; grandchildren, Hayley, Blake, Karisa, and Kasen; and brothers, Derrick and Randall Urabe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, and son, Scott. A celebration of his life will be held on November 22, 2025, at Nuuanu Memorial Park and Mortuary, East Chapel. Visitation will begin at 4 pm, followed by services at 5 pm. Casual attire, no flowers. Arrangements Provided By: Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary LLC
