Katie Tamashiro Obituary

KATIE SAU PING TAMASHIRO 81, of Kailua, a retired emergency operations specialist for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, passed away on May 13, 2025 at Straub Clinic and Hospital. She was born in Honolulu and a graduate of Kaimuki High School and Cal State University. She is survived by her husband, David; son, John (Yula); daughter, Jill (Jorge) Rodriguez; and grand- children, Jasmine and Julian Rodriguez, and Zaylie and Zayden Tamashiro. Visitation at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Service begins at 6 p.m. Please wear floral or colorful attire. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary

I worked for the Corps of Engineers at Shafter, '77 to '88. Katie was a kind and friendly person. She was always up for a smile and a laugh. Sail on, Katie.

We would like to say farewell to a dear friend. We´re sorry that we learned today that her services was yesterday. She was one who brought laughter to the music world. She and Ron Miyashiro (my husband) played the piano at same night clubs. She is our forever friend.
