Lance Leong Obituary

LANCE H. K. KENUI LEONG Lance H.K. Kenui Leong, 58, of Papakolea, O'ahu, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife, Andrea Hussey-Leong, 3 cherished daughters, Lauren (Micah) Chow, Lindsey (friend Beau Oshiro), Leiana, and family dog Kobe. Lance's educational journey began at Iolani School and St. Patrick's School, culminating in his graduation from Kamehameha Schools in 1983. He pursued his passion for fi nance and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. His commitment and tireless work ethic made a lasting impact with his hard-working newspaper carriers and over 4,000 loyal customers turned to friends. He would have conversations with customers about their families, vacations (since they asked to hold their paper), and he even memorized every customer's name and address. Lance's love for sports was unparalleled. An avid enthusiast of football and basketball, he passionately cheered on his favorite teams, Minnesota Vikings and the L.A. Lakers. His greatest joy came from supporting his daughters in every event they pursued; volleyball, dance, cheerleading, and instilling in them the values of determination and perseverance. It was a pleasure meeting Lance a few years ago at Ala Moana Beach Park, walking his little dog, Kobe. He was such a nice, down to earth guy, always had a friendly smile for us, and enjoyed "talking story". All of us Ala Moana regulars will miss him. A hui hou, Lance.

Lance would light up the room with his smile. When I first met Lance in Colorado he was wearing shorts and flip flops. This would remain to be his favorite attire whether it was 80 degrees or 32 degrees and snow. He had a huge heart and his genuineness and sincerity connected you instantly. I will miss Lance greatly and find comfort in the memories we shared at Regis.
