Louis Kau Obituary
LOUIS ALBERT KEALI'IPUAINA DAI LOY KAU Age 77, passed away in Honolulu on January 7, 2025. "Louie" was born on May 27, 1947, to parents Louis Keali'ipuaina and Dolores Lin Dai Kau. Raised in Moanalua Valley and later in Ka'imuki, Louie was the third oldest, and only boy, among five children. He attended St. Patrick's School, where he served as an altar boy and received the American Legion award for excellence in academics and sports. Louie was a proud 1965 graduate of St. Louis High School. While at St. Louis, Louie played football and participated in the ROTC program with distinction. He later graduated from the University of Hawaii with a degree in political science. While at UH, Louie met his soul mate and love of his life, Kathleen Wong, and they were married in 1970. After college, Louie worked in the hotel industry as executive assistant manager at the Ilikai Hotel and later as the general manager at the Makaha Resort Hotel. Thereafter, Louie was employed by the Bishop Estate in various capacities, including Executive Vice President of the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center and President of the Kamehameha Investment Corporation. An avid golfer, Louie loved all aspects of the game and his favorite activity was playing golf with his grandchildren. He was a gifted chef and delighted in preparing amazing dishes for his family and friends. Louie's engaging smile and generous kind spirit would light up any room. A loving son, brother, husband, father, and grand-father (Papa), his family meant everything to him. He is survived by sons, Zachary (Cori) and Nicholas (Yuri Hoshino); beloved grandchildren Louis Hudson, Sloane, Ellena, and Lily; sisters Claire Ho (Alvin), Catherine Chun-Hoon (Lowell), and Gail "Mamo" Martin (hanai); sisters in-law Allene Wong and Colleen Wong (Bob Ching); brother in-law Michael Wong (Sherree); and several aunts, uncle, cousins, nephews, and nieces. Celebration of life services are to be held at Nuuanu Memorial Park and Mortuary on April the 26th 2025. Visitation starts at 9:30am and service begins at 11:30am.
