Raymond Teruya Obituary

RAYMOND T. TERUYA A man of quiet strength, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. He was the first-born son of Wallace and Ethel Teruya and a graduate of Mid Pacific Institute and Wittenberg University. He was the driving force behind the growth and development of Teruya Brothers, Limited, the parent company of Times Super Market, which was founded by his father, Wallace, his Uncle Albert, and their cousin, Kame Uyehara. His career with the company began as soon as he completed his MBA from Indiana University and spanned over 50+ years. Eventually, he became the President and CEO of both Times Super Market and Teruya Brothers, Limited, and President of the Albert T. and Wallace T. Teruya Foundation. Under his leadership, the Foundation expanded its contributions to many hospitals, schools, and other charitable organizations on the island. Raymond had a curious mind, was a serious thinker, and enjoyed history, music, reading, long walks at Magic Island. He was a loving husband to his wife, Diana, and a kind father to their children: Kimberly Mather (Ian) and Chandler (Misha). He is also survived by his granddaughter Caiya, brothers Wayne (Sharon) and Dexter (Valerie) Teruya, sister Rosemarie (Steve) Love, and numerous nieces and nephews. He left us with his heart filled with gratitude to God, to family and friends, and to the support of the loyal and hard-working employees of the company. A private service was held at Diamond Head Mortuary. Arrangements Provided By: Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel
