RODNEY OKABAYASHI Obituary

COL (RET) RODNEY SEIICHI OKABAYASHI Colonel Okabayashi passed away on June 16, 2022, in Virginia. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Edward and Florence Okabayashi on September 12, 1946. Raised in Kailua, Rodney played catcher on the first Little League World Series team to represent the new state of Hawaii in 1959. Baseball remained a passion his entire life. He graduated from Kailua High School in 1964, The University of Hawaii with a BBA and commissioned into the US Army in 1969. In 1979, he earned his MBM from Webster University. He completed his career in the Army after 26 years and retired in 1995. Post Army, he continued his career as a Logistician working with government contract companies until his retirement in 2011. He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Florence, and both of his siblings, Douglas and Brian. Rodney is survived by his wife Sandra; four children: Jon (Lori), Leanne, Jason (Alison), Jared (Whitney), and four grandchildren. His interment into the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl, will take place on Tuesday, 18 July 2023, at 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life/Reception will follow at the Makiki Christian Church for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, and if you wish to donate, please consider one of the following chosen charitable organizations: The National Kidney Foundation, The American Diabetes Association, Disabled American Veterans, or the USO.
