SANDRA STONER Obituary

SANDRA SANDI OSORIO STONER Sandra "Sandi" Osorio Stoner passed away on June 28, 2024, at her home in Kula, Maui, surrounded by family and under hospice care. She was born on June 2, 1941, in Hilo, Hawaii, to Alvah M.M. "Sonny" Osorio and Jewel French. Sandi graduated from Punahou School, on O'ahu, in 1959 as part of the "Statehood Class." She later attended UH Maui College and earned her degree from Chaminade University. Sandi was a co-founder of "Duck Soup," an import company on Maui, where she, along with partners Jody Baldwin and Judy Bruder, specialized in furniture and curios from Indonesia and Southeast Asia. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Earl Stoner of Kula; her son Robert Stoner of Wailuku; and her grandchildren B. Robert "Buzz" Stoner of Berlin, Germany, and Abby Stoner of Florida. Sandi is also survived by her niece, Leilani White Boreri of Kailua Kona, along with many grandnieces, grandnephews, and their children. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Clare Diane Osorio, and her sons Jeffrey Bryan Stoner and Michael Scott Stoner. Sandi was an active and devoted mother, aunt, and grandmother who cherished her family, godchildren, and friends. She and Earl traveled extensively, visiting countless destinations worldwide. Sandi had a deep love for the outdoors and the ocean, and was an accomplished SCUBA diver. She was also an avid reader, enjoying several books each month. Sandi was passionate about volunteering and supported numerous organizations, including Seabury Hall, where she was a founder of the annual Craft Fair, Hui No'eau, where she served as an active board member and officer, and Maui Child and Family Services, which she and Earl supported across the Hawaiian Islands. Sandi was the quintessential friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A celebration of Sandi's life will be held at Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center in Makawao on October 20, 2024.
