Sio Saipaia Obituary

SIO SAIPAIA JR. Sio Saipaia Jr. left us just a few days shy of his 58th birthday, passing peacefully at Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu on November 29, 2025, the very same hospital where his story began on December 7, 1967. Born to Alefosio and Talo (Tagoai) Saipaia, he arrived as the youngest of a big Samoan family number 11 of 11 and from the very beginning, he made his presence known. He became a standout volleyball player at Punahou School as well as Loyola Marymount University before playing on the pro circuit for several years. He was also well known for his amazing singing voice and gentle protective nature. He spent the last part of his life living between Hawaii and North Carolina and was most recently the Store Manager of Goodwill in Kaimuki where he left a lasting impact on his employees and customers. Sio is survived by his sisters Mele Wilson, Faasalafa Forney, Faia Aiga, Paepae Lualemana, Toaiva Rowe, and Malia Tuisamata, and his brother Soli Namu. He leaves behind countless nieces and nephews who adored him, who were raised on his jokes, his generosity, and his steady presence. He joins in rest his parents, and his siblings Fia Tupua, Anna Gill, Kalala Saipaia, and his brother Iamafana Saipaia, who no doubt welcomed him home with open arms.
