Earl Nakai Obituary

EARL MASA NAKAI Earl Masato Nakai, 81, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2023, with his family by his side. Masa started his career with M. Nakai Repair Service, a family owned and operated business started by his father Masao "Poker" Nakai. Masa started at a young age and worked for years alongside his parents Poker and Ellen, his sister Frances Suzuki and brother Ronald and then later with his son Scott and grandsons Reyn & Landon and granddaughter, Kiana. He worked in every area learning the business and retired as President after 60 years with the company. For those who knew him you will remember he was a McCully boy and a 1959 graduate of McKinley High School. He was a good friend to many and was kind-hearted. He loved to golf, karaoke and have a good time with his friends at the 19th hole. One of his favorite karaoke songs was "My Way" and he surely did do it his way. He is survived by his wife Jane, of 62 years; daughter Joy Yokouchi, son Scott (Cheryl); Grandchildren, Reyn, Landon, Kiana Nakai & Bree, Ryne Yokouchi and one great-grandson, Jack Nakai. Sisters: Jane (Lawrence) Torii, Frances (Howard) Suzuki, Karen (Herbert) Kitazaki, and brother; Ronald (Sherry) Nakai and many nieces and nephews. Private Celebration of Life services were held, and the family requests no koden. Our family would like to express special thanks to the staff at Aina Haina Quality Living, especially Beth, Rubie and Josie for your special TLC and for singing & dancing to Sweet Caroline.
