Fern Waniya Obituary

FERN AKEMI WANIYA The family of Fern Akemi Waniya sadly announces her passing on June 22, 2025. Fern was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on June 20, 1951, and was one of five siblings. She was a graduate of McKinley High School, and later moved to California to work in the film industry for many years until finally moving back home to Hawaii. She retired from working in a condominium service center office as an administrative assistant. In retirement she liked to relax and spend time with and caring for her two dogs, Harley and Arabiki. Fern is survived by her son, Wayson; sisters, Jan Chaja, and Kathy Palomo; Aunt, Helen Goya; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held at Hosoi Garden Mortuary on Sunday August 24, 2025. Visitation at 3:00 p.m. with Services starting at 4:00 p.m. Reception to follow. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
