JARREL NAKAMURA Obituary

JARREL H. NAKAMURA On October 26, 2023, Jarrel H. Nakamura, loving husband, father, grandfather, and known to all as Jed, passed away at the age of 71. Born on January 9, 1952 in Honolulu, Jed was predeceased by his father Thomas Nakamura, mother Marilyn Ono (Harold-deceased), eldest brother Harris (Nona-deceased), and younger brother Ronald. Jed was a proud graduate of Punahou School, Class of 1970 and an alumni of the University of Hawaii at Manoa where he earned a degree in Business. He was an active member of Sigma Lambda Fraternity and his humor and wit would earn him numerous master of ceremony roles over the years. Jed had a passion for the Aiea baseball community which he supported for over 30 years, as a parent, coach, and board member. Jed retired from the family business, Alii Flooring, as Corporate Secretary after 34 years. Retiring meant traveling and enjoying his precious grandchildren. He traveled to Japan, Okinawa, and spent time with his newest grandson Nixon in Texas. He enjoyed treating grandson Kase and granddaughter Sophie to sushi at Genki Sushi. Jed is survived by his wife Sharon Taira Nakamura; sons Kiley (Haruka), Reid (Annie), and Jay (Jessica), grandchildren Kase, Sophie, NIxon, Siblings Carolyn Miyasaki (Arnold), Ruth Reola (Alex), step-siblings Jerilyn Hall (Harold), Berlyn Kaneshiro (Neil), sister-in-law Sharon Yamane Nakamura; many nieces, nephews, and relatives. Our family would like to express our appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Pearlridge Dialysis, Pali Momi Medical Center, Straub Clinic & Hospital, and The Villas @ St. Francis. Celebration of Jed's life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary, Mauka Chapel. Visitation at 5:00pm, Celebration at 5:30pm.

My Dad has been through all the thorns and growing pains so that we could enjoy the roses. We love him with all our hearts for all the opportunities he made available to us because he was the best father we could ever ask for. Love you dad and forever in our hearts.

We came to know Jed at his age of 36, our son started his peewee baseball chapter and as a coach he made us comfortable and welcome, being a new family to the team. As we got to know him, we found a very caring and positive person, always willing to lend a hand. Nothing seem to be a burden to him.

Always so upbeat and fun to be around, during friend's and party gatherings. A generous person which was so with Sharon and all his 3 sons.

We know for sure that his sons are and will always carry on his caring and loving persona. Sharon should be so proud of them. Best wishes to the Nakamura Ohana.
