Robert Bumgarner Obituary

ROBERT JR BUMGARNER JR. JR Bumgarner passed away in his sleep in Portland Oregon on May 1, 2025 at the age of 59. The last time we spoke he was feeling grateful, happy and focused on his future. JR had a playful and silly side. He had an uncanny ability for remembering lines from movies, and also a wicked ability to mimic accents. JR definitely knew how to make people laugh. JR was always driven and there wasn't much he couldn't do. In 1981, as a sophomore at HBA, he started building his own computer. He had a Masters in Business and Accounting from Purdue University but he was an engineer at heart. He later shifted his focus from finance to the environment. This was something he remained passionate about. JR was an adrenaline junky, enjoying skiing black diamonds with moguls, scuba diving, swimming in shark cages, bungee jumping, sky diving, and amusement park rides. Our family is saddened by this loss but we are comforted that he's at peace. His mother, Carol Williams, preceded him in death in 2020. He is survived by his wife, Sela, his father Robert, his stepmother Janis and his sister Tammy. There will be a private family service.
