Barney Coleman Obituary

BARNEY DUCKY LANAKILA COLEMAN Born on September 22, 1960 he attended Damien and graduated from McKinley High school. He was 63 years old. Ducky delighted visitors by singing and playing the bass guitar for 10 years on the Star of Honolulu Cruise. As an avid surfer, he helped rescue many at sea. One life that he saved was another surfer who was wounded and bleeding badly, he took off his rash guard and used it as a tourniquet, paddling him to an ambulance at shore, never knowing his name or ever seeing the surfer again. He was a Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel employee honored with the Ho'opakele Award on July 1992 for his quick action in saving a team members life, and later, saved the life of a guest without hesitation. He retired from the Hotel after 35 years. Mahalo to the Front Services staff and all Departments for your prayers, love and support, as we are one 'Ohana at the Village. Brothers, Anapuni Jr., Bryant Jr. (Lori), Wyatt (Penny) Coleman. Nieces, Nephews, and Friends. Services to be held at Hilton Hawaiian Village Rainbow Suites on November 12 from 9:00-11:00am.
