I worked with Frank at KGMB from 1991-1992. He was funny, kind, and the most sharing mentor to this fledgling production tech. We had a lot in common. Frank preceded me at KHET Hawaii Public Television as a student. His student productions there were creative and fun filled.
Like a big brother,
he taught me the ropes for the tv show, "Checkers and Pogo," 6 & 10pm news with Bob Sevey and the production swing shift at the CBS affiliate.
Those work sessions were always filled with fun and laughter.
When I was offered a job as a producer/director for the federal government, Frank counseled me on all the benefits it presented. I was and will always be grateful for his kindness and mentorship.
I remember when Frank was preparing his dinner right before the 6pm news. He was focused on his meal prep. On headset, the director says, "Camera one zoom in & pan left."
I walked over to Frank´s camera from camera 2 and followed the direction from the control room.
Then the director says, "is that you Frank?"
I then say, "Yeah, this is Frank!"
The director says, "Good job."
Then Frank calmly walks over, plugs in his headset.
He was smooth, calm, and collected.
The epitome of cool! I learned so much by his style.
Mahalo Frank for being a big inspiration and influence on my professional foundation. I´m forever grateful.

A hui hou.
