Henry Jim Obituary

HENRY KOON CHAN JIM Henry Jim, 90, passed away in his hometown of Honolulu, Hawaii, on December 26, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. One of eleven children, he graduated from McKinley High School, went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1957, and later attended Honolulu Business College and University of Hawaii. His jobs included a Honolulu Star-Bulletin newspaper route, shoe salesperson, and driver for Optical Suppliers. But he was best known as a friendly letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service from 1963 to 2000, a uniform he wore proudly. Henry enjoyed music, socializing, driving, and traveling. He visited many destinations including Hong Kong, Macau, Australia, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and China, where he met his beloved wife, Yanyan Linda Jim. He was a longtime member of Kung Sheong Doo Society, a Chinese cultural organization. Henry also loved dogs. His and Linda's poodle Shasha accompanied him practically everywhere. With his friendly demeanor and aloha spirit, Henry touched the lives of many. He is preceded in death by Linda; Shasha; and his siblings Wilfred Jim, Mickey Jim, Eddie Jim, Renny Jim, Clara Say, Walter Jim, Edith Jim, Beatrice Ono, and Richard Jim. He is survived by sons Kenneth (Laurie) and Cory (Yancey); former wife Marylin Jim; six grandchildren who lovingly call him "Grandpops"; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on February 7, 2026 at Nu'uanu Memorial Park & Mortuary, 9:00 am visitation, 10:00 am service. Arrangements Provided By: Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary LLC
